Perhaps some of you came across an accessory brand called Vecchio Anseatico? Or some elegant Instagram shots from an account with the name of Analogue Approach? Well behind both is Steffen Ingwersen an elegant young gentleman from Northern Germany. Beside dressing well in high quality clothing you most likely see Steffen also driving in an interesting classic car as he has a big passion for cars too. So with so many fields of interests that I also like to write and talk about I think it’s a big pleasure to ask Steffen the 17 questions to a well-dressed man and you can read his answers below.

What are you wearing today?

Turns out, it’s a pretty basic ensemble. I’m wearing a mid-grey Drapers Ascot 4-Ply suit from Prologue Hong Kong, a white shirt with navy University stripes as well as a dark brown Grenadine Garza Grossa tie from Vecchio Anseatico and finally a pair of Fabian Zug suede tassel loafers.

If you had to choose to spend money either on a suit or on a watch, what would you choose?

Easily on a suit or on a car but I’d finally like to save up for one of my grail watches.

What jewellery could a man wear?

Personally, I keep it to watches, a signet ring and occasionally cufflinks. Other than that, I appreciate bracelets, necklaces and lapel chains but wouldn’t wear them myself. Just like tie bars / tie clips. Then again, no one should wear those.

Tie or a bowtie?

Ties all the way except for black tie or white tie.

Do you remember your first jacket?

The first jacket I ever bought myself was a navy-blue double-breasted blazer with brass buttons. It had such an impact on my style that coincidentally my latest commission is an identical blazer from Massura Sartoria in Harrison Cape Kid. It will probably turn out to be the ultimate version of the first jacket I ever bought.

What is your favourite watch?

I have plenty but the one that suits my interests and style best is the Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921.

Fountain pen or ballpoint?

No preference.

Have you found the perfect garment yet?

Well, I have, and the answer is surprisingly simple – it’s my sage green Barbour Beaufort.

Explain your biggest passion in one sentence?

Everything that makes me look like I won the lottery in 1996, spent it all at once, then went bankrupt.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Listening to Country Rap music.

Who is the best dressed man in the world for you?

Our mutual friend, Herbert Stricker.

The best book you ever read?

I’m not interested in books.

Which city should one go shopping?

I mostly enjoy shopping in Florence. The city is made up of many small owner-operated shops and artisans around each and every corner.

Tweed or flannel?

Tweed jackets and flannel trousers ;)

The most elegant restaurant in the world for you?

Any random restaurant around Lake Como or along the Amalfi Coast. Locanda La Tirlindana in Sala Comacina comes to mind.

Describe your style in three words?

Method behind madness

Best purchase you did in the last 6 months?

A beat-up ‘96 Volvo 960 3.0.
